To Break Bread is to engage in a comfortable, friendly interaction. Originally, the term was literal, meaning that a loaf of bread would be broken to share and eat, a casual meal among associates. Today, the term is used to describe a social interaction where something is shared. This could be food, money, commodities, assets, or other various items.

Spinal hydration is an effective test of your core strength:

Sit up straight (preferably on the blue wobble disk we have in the office)
Tilt your pelvis forward and backwards. If you have fantastic core strength:
- your rib cage should not need to participate in the movement; nor should your neck or shoulders
- your belly button should be contained inwards throughout the whole movement
- your hip-flexor tendons should be deactivates

Give it a test ; let me know

Many people think core strength is doing sit-ups and having a 6pack.

This is not the truth; core is made up of 6 muscles that must function in the correct ratios 24-7.

The end point of a functional core is negative pressure in the abdominal cavity that takes pressure off the spine and allows free movement.

How effective is your core?

The difference between chronological age and functional age.

Chronological age is the age you are based on your date of birth

Functional age is the age you are based on the capabilities of your body.

Is your functional age younger or older than your chronological age?

Toxicity is a huge contributor for inflammation and pain in the body. When last did you detox?

There are 4 phases of chiropractic care -

1) pain relief (the purpose is to get you out of pain)
2) stabilization (to keep you from returning back into pain cycles)
3) rejuvenation (to truly correct and heal the body)
4) optimization (to truly find the best version of yourself)

Which phase are you in?

Learning is a fundamental part of life. What do you need to currently learn to move forward?

When people consult with a Chiropractor, especially in chronic states it is very common that they are unaware of what got them into their situation of pain, inflammation and limitation. What is worse is they often do a movement(s) wrong on a regular basis that keeps the situation alive.

Unconscious incompetence is when you are unaware of what you do wrong. Then we bring you into the consciousness of your incompetence and now the stages of learning occur.

Conscious competence; you start to move in the right manner but you may not have made enough change to make a symptom change.

Unconscious competence; you have finally changed the habit. Your body moves the way you suppose to and eventually true healing occurs.

Find your incompetence and consciously change; consciously learn. Have a great week

Chiropractic desire is to find the interference; understand it; explain it to you so that you can be apart of the correction and then clearing it out.

What is your biggest interference?

This afternoon I played 4 square

...certainly a game I played at school as a child.

What fun and a good form of exercise.

What “old school” games and activities did you do that was a great form of exercise?

Movement is a healing power when occurring from a place of coordinated quality. That is moving smoothly and effectively.

When the body starts to move in a laboured manner because of an injury or repetitive strain, compensations occur that lead to dysfunctional movement.

Dysfunctional movement at its root prevents the body from healing and instead leads to pain and inflammation.

What is your quality of movement like?

There are 5 elimination mechanisms in the body:

1)    Defecation
2)    Urination
3)    Perspiration
4)    Expiration
5)    Emotional Expression

If one is blocked, slow or overworking in any of these areas it creates issues in the body. Elimination is to occur such that the body can work effortlessly and efficiently.

Where is your elimination not working correctly?
Where are you not effortless and efficient?

It has been so evident to me that the stress of the "unknown" as caused by the events of 2020 is sitting heavy on the shoulders of many.

We all know and understand the impact of stress on the mind and body. I have found that
- uncertainty of the future,
- unknown outcomes of current situations
- lack of confidence in your next steps forward
Creates huge tractions, pressure and tension!

If this applies to you or someone near and dear to you please private message me. We will be starting a Stress Management Program complimentary for anyone interested and we will have limited seats available.

How are your spinal curves? Send me a standing or sitting picture of your regular posture (side angle) for me to interpret.

Dr. Travis Mitchell
08:16 | 08 October 2020

I feel it is so important to realise the curves we have in the spine are there for shock absorption. So when you are constantly standing or sitting in a posture that flattens or arches the curve you are changing the shock absorption capabilities.

What ritual do you have that allows you to check in with your body everyday?

Dr. Travis Mitchell

The physiological time frame for change is 3 months / 12 weeks / 90 plus days. That means in order to ACTUALLY change your physiology you must do something different for this duration.

For example if you wish to build muscle and loose fat you will need to exercise specifically 6 days per week for this duration before you can say “it does not work!”

Even then the percentage of perceivable change may be very small and this is due to how far gone the case is.

1) what physiological change do you desire?
2) what will you commit to for 3 months?
