The Healing State

The body is self-healing and self-regulating! This means that the body has a powerful ability to heal itself regardless of the injury or condition. Sadly, in many chronic (long-standing) issues the body is not outwardly showing that it can heal itself. This is often the case with the patients that come to see a chiropractor. 

In Chiropractic terms there are 2 important criteria for the body to be healed:

  • There is no interference (physical / emotional / chemical) to healing 
  • You provide your body with what it requires to heal

We have structured our office in such a way that every visit should be about:

  • Finding the interference, understanding it, explaining it to you and clearing it out
  • Teaching you situationally what your body is requiring to heal 

However, there is one missing ingredient for success and that is the Healing State. The healing state is a definable physiological state [Parasympathetic Dominance] where every system in the body activates their process of the healing. To do this, you have to slow down; 

  • Your heart regulating to a low resting rate 
  • Your breathing volume increases as the rate slows
  • Your mind stops racing

As you arrive in the office for your next Chiropractic Adjustment, we recommend doing the following to get into your healing state:

  1. Put your phone down, ensure you have the time set aside without distractions
  2. Hydrate your spine
  3. Read and get inspired with the motivation on the TV
  4. Stretch your body
  5. Activate your posture
  6. Get ready and comfortable for your adjustment
  7. Lie face down
  8. Slow your breathing and calm your heart
  9. Focus on your body alone and enjoy your adjustment
  10. Take a 5-minute walk around our garden after your adjustment
