Dr Travis Mitchell 10thJanuary 2014 Via Email Dear Dr Mitchell, On behalf of the directors, staff and children at Marang House we would like to take this opportunity of thanking you for your kind on-going donations and support and for making us you’re ‘Charity of Choice’. It is through the generosity of our donors and friends that we are able to continue the work that we are doing and we do appreciate it.We are always grateful to receive and even items we can not use ourselves can be sold in our charity shop to raise much needed funds for the home.
We now have eleven children, six girls and five boys. Sadly, we lost one of our children just before Christmas, Siphenathia twelve year old boy who was suffering from renal failure;he was in the hospital at the time.Five children have Chronic Renal Failure, of which two have had kidney transplants one in March 2010, one in the middle of 2012, they continue to go from strength to strength, another child Xolisa aged 7 had his kidney transplant at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital on Saturday 11thMay 2013, we are happy to advise that he has not rejected the organ transplant and is recovering well in hospital.
Our other two renal patients are still awaiting their transplants. The other six in our care are children suffering from diabetes. They vary from the ages of 7 to 14 years of age and are such a lovely group of children whom all seem to have bonded well. We transport the children to and from Charlotte Maxeke Academic hospital daily for schooling and treatment. As school re-opens next week, we are expecting the children that were able to go home for the holidays to return to Marang House this weekend –we trust they had a wonderful time with their respective families.Marang House relies totally on donations and sponsors, without this support we would not be able to provide the home and care that these children require.Thank you for making a difference to South Africa’s seriously ill children. Kind Regards Melanie MARANG HOUSE
