To Break Bread is to engage in a comfortable, friendly interaction. Originally, the term was literal, meaning that a loaf of bread would be broken to share and eat, a casual meal among associates. Today, the term is used to describe a social interaction where something is shared. This could be food, money, commodities, assets, or other various items.

The squat is one of the primary functional movements of the body. In order to get the tick of approval that your hips, knees and ankles are moving correctly, complete the following test:

- stand facing a wall
- move your feet 10cm from the wall
- do your best squat
- if you can get all the way to the bottom then move your feet closer; if you cannot then move your feet further away.
- get a picture of yourself at the bottom of the squat and send it to me for analysis

Have you ever had pain in this area? The trigger points in this muscle are overloaded by forward head posture. Chiropractic adjustments reset the proprioceptive input...basically puts your head back on top!

Do you talk short strides or long strides? Do you swing your arms while you walk?

Biomechanically it is more effective to take long strides and swing your arms. This also has an important stimulation on your metabolism...helping you maintain your energy throughout the day.

Forward head posture is extremely common; and drastically increases the pressure on your spine. The nerves of the neck (cervical spine) send important messages to the head, neck, shoulder and upper limb. This increased pressure will eventually affect these nerves. Sort your posture out today!

My latest talk on acute back pain; let me know if you interested?

Acute episodes of back pain - “pinched nerve” is, in majority of cases, protective muscle spasm and not a true pinched nerve. The protective muscle spasm is initiated by the brain to protect the spine from actual damage.

So in this case we do not want to get rid of the muscle spasm but rather focus on correcting the reason the brain is protecting the spine. If you get the reason the spasm dissipates very quickly.

We have recently pruned a tree and unbeknown to us there was a nest in those branches. So Sphiwe, our security gentleman and general care taker, found the mom and baby birds lost without a home. He created a new home for them under a tree stump in the garden and supervised for a few days. They have now grown sufficiently and they were able to fly off safe and sound!

Thank you Sphiwe. 🙏

Every muscle works within a specific length and tension ratio. To make this simple, muscles have to have certain degree flexibility and a certain degree of strength.

On a spectrum between 1 to 10 where 1 is you are super strong and 10 is you are super flexible (generally throughout your body) where would you rate yourself?

The difference between frozen shoulder and rotator cuff issues -

Frozen shoulder is a very restricted shoulder joint. Often times as much as 70 to 90% of normal range of motion. The pain is a dull ache, like tooth ache and is very debilitating because it affects your sleep and you are not able to use the whole arm.

Rotator cuff impingement is a strong sharp pain that occurs on certain movements of the shoulder joint and will not allow you to move further, usually lifting the arm upwards or outwards. Before that point it is relatively free of pain unless the person has huge amount of inflammation. It is limiting in activities that require that movement and there is often weakness.

Interesting fact many patients do not know, is the middle part of your neck supplies the shoulder joint with the nerve supply. Therefore Chiropractic adjustment to the neck helps the shoulder joint recovery.

It is often surprising to my patients when they hear that we take care of babies and children. “Why would they need Chiropractic?”

A few main conditions that benefit from Chiropractic:
1) colic and other digestive issues like reflux
2) respiratory issues
3) ear issues
4) immune challenges
5) developmental delays

Have you considered chiropractic for your family?
