To Break Bread is to engage in a comfortable, friendly interaction. Originally, the term was literal, meaning that a loaf of bread would be broken to share and eat, a casual meal among associates. Today, the term is used to describe a social interaction where something is shared. This could be food, money, commodities, assets, or other various items.

What is your functional age?
Your functional age is different from your chronological age. Your functional age is based on how effectively and efficiently your body works and what activities are you able to achieve.

You have to think out of 1000 people a certain age what are the acceptable capabilities. Regardless of your age, are you able to compete? How do you fair?

I have a body composition machine that among other things tells the basal metabolic rate of the person. This then calculates how old you are based on your metabolism and the amount of available energy for each day.

How is your sustainable daily energy?
Have a great energy week.

What are the biggest immune challenges:

1) medication
2) drugs of any sort (cigarettes is the most simplest)
3) alcohol
4) coffee and other stimulants
5) sugar
6) dairy
7) acidic and inflammation producing foods

If you consume any of these on a regular basis you are compromising your immune system.

Have a clean day.

An antigen is any substance alive or dead that your body has to respond to. There are antigens around us at all time and the reason we are not constantly sick is because we have an immune system. Your immune system recognises the antigen and if you have developed immunity to the antigen before then you do not get sick.

If your immune system is compromised in any way you will have to respond to the antigen. The nature of the response is how the antigen affects the system. The duration of the response is how effectively your immune system is.

So to insure (especially as we go thru winter) that our immune system is strong, we need to:
1) build it up constantly so that it is not compromised in any way
2) avoid situations that compromise your immune system
3) deal with immune responses in such a way that it strengthens it

Fridays and Saturdays are part of my week were I enjoy the finer items of life. I have found the balance between clean disciplined living and fun moderate living really helps keep the mind focussed. 5 days clean and clear; 2 days of moderation.

In the concept of moderation I practice the art of enjoyment which entails really engaging my consciouness to that moment and that experience. Generally very quickly the moment is over and therefore I have been moderate.

For example I love Coffee and a croissant. So today, enjoyed the experience of having this, 1st thing this morning. The first sips and bites are tremendous and I savour every moment. My taste buds are overwhelmed and shortly after that I then have had my fill.

If I had to consume that more times in the week I surely would not enjoy it as much. The sensory experience without the habit and addictive nature behind it of needing more and more.

I challenge you give it a try!

Goldilocks said "not too hot, not too cold, but just right!"

This is a physiological tail of moderation.

Make sure you find your balance in all aspects of your life.

I was asked to give a discussion on the various products that we stock and why!

I will explain a product every few days -

We stock Wazoogles Vegetarian Protein Powder in 6 amazing flavours.

We prefer vegetarian protein because:

1) easily absorbed and processed into the body
2) farming practice is cleaner than animal protein
3) animal protein can contribute to inflammatory processes in sensitive people
4) contains great spread of vitamins and minerals because of the multiple sources.
5) low in calories but nutritionally dense so will speed up your matabolism.
6) great as a meal replacement especially for on the run.

The body is designed to fight against gravity and give lift and elongation upwards against the downward pull of gravity.
To do this it uses:
1) the arch of the foot
2) the engagement around the knee
3) the pelvic floor
4) the abdominal and diaphragm
5) the shoulder blade position
6) the lungs and ribcage
7) the curves of the spine
8) the base of skull

Can you activate all of these constantly and effortless throughout your day and regardless of position?

If you do not use it you will lose it!

Balanced diet is still the simplest and most effective.

You need to have a way of testing how your body responds to different stimuli. For this you can make accurate decisions on what needs to change or be done differently.

We went to the Arnold Classic today. It was so great to see so many different options for exercise and activity.

It is common place for patients to tell me they do not like exercise. You do not have to like common exercise choices like running, gym or CrossFit...you can choose something that fits your body structure, challenges your capabilities, pushes your mental boundaries and brings joy into your heart.

Young and old, big and small I saw all types from pole fitness to dance, various martial arts to fencing and archery, heavy lifting to badminton.

What is your form of movement and exercise?
Send me your thoughts & if you went to the Arnold I would love to hear your favourite.

Have a week full of movement.

I see this very commonly - arthritis progresses to either crumble the joint / body or harden and fuse the joint. This occurs for two main reasons -

1) acidity from diet and lifestyle;

2) spinal compression for compensation...

Clear both and the body does not have a reason to have arthritis.
