To Break Bread is to engage in a comfortable, friendly interaction. Originally, the term was literal, meaning that a loaf of bread would be broken to share and eat, a casual meal among associates. Today, the term is used to describe a social interaction where something is shared. This could be food, money, commodities, assets, or other various items.

We give a warm and happy welcome to our newest team member Dr Holly-Jay Roothman.

“As a Homeopath, I believe that healing is a journey which needs to start at the beginning (the root cause), and the doctor-patient relationship that we build plays an important role in achieving the best possible experience.” - Dr Holly

Homeopathy is a natural form of medicine used by over 200 million people worldwide to treat both acute and chronic conditions. It is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’. Homeopathic medicines (remedies) are made from substances designed to help stimulate the body's natural healing ability. Homeopathic medicines are made from small amounts of natural substances such as plants and minerals. Prepared in licensed laboratories, under strict control, they are usually taken as pillules, liquids, powders, creams or tablet.

Please let us know, what are the challenges you have that require the use of our homeopath?

Hydration is vitally important for cell to cell communication. Every mechanism and function in the body requires adequate hydration in order to function correctly.

I find it easy to feel the need to drink plenty of water in summer because of the heat however here is a case for drinking loads during winter, especially in JHB.

1) the body requires a load of energy and hydration to maintain body heat
2) the dry air in JHB means that your body is having to generate moisture.
3) the regular use of heaters or fire places dries the air further.
4) consumption of tea and coffee to get warm unfortunately are often diuretics forcing water out of the body.

Consider adding electrolytes from coconut water or rehydrate to assist your body hold onto the water you consume.

Have a great week

Walking is by far the simplest way you can ensure your body is doing well.

We have all heard the saying “walk it off”; walking correctly regulates much of the function in different systems in the body - digestive, circulatory, lymphatic, eliminatory, muscular skeletal.

However in my office I see so many people who walk poorly; even when we go to shopping malls it is a very common occurrence to see.

Remember the body is self healing and self regulating; so learn how to walk correctly.

Here is the test -
1) walk with hard shoes down a wooden floor and listen to noise your shoes make. It should be symmetrical. Listening to people run on the road or treadmill gives the same understanding.
2) stand on one leg - lift the other leg in front of you. Hold your balance and then twist your upper body so that your opposite arm is held forwards. Compare each side and your balance, flexibility and control should be the same.

A patient mentioned these words to me today - "doc, I have to!"

The motivation behind those words are so much more powerful than:
1) I should
2) I must
3) I will
4) I would like to

A simple fact, many have health issues to be resolved but few find the motivation and drive to do so.

What do you have to sort out?

What is your reason for taking care of your health?

Dr. Travis Mitchell
09:58 | 19 May 2021

The reason why it is called core is because it is central to the stability of the entire body.
Most people think that it is just your abdominal muscles or 6-pack muscles. However there are numerous other primary and secondary components.

What else, do you think forms part of the core?
