To Break Bread is to engage in a comfortable, friendly interaction. Originally, the term was literal, meaning that a loaf of bread would be broken to share and eat, a casual meal among associates. Today, the term is used to describe a social interaction where something is shared. This could be food, money, commodities, assets, or other various items.

Adaptation vs compensation

When the person is adapting - the more they exercise the more the body can handle and therefore the body gets stronger, faster and more flexible with more exercise.

When a person is compensating - the more they exercise the more the body has to protect them. This leads to more tightness, stiffness, pain and inflammation the more you exercise.

On the spectrum between adaptation and compensation where are you now?

We are in the process of developing movement programs that help you to adapt better.

Health is a combination of physical, emotional & chemical mechanisms.

For some it is one dimensional and thus relatively easy to correct. For many it is a delicate combination of each.

Where do you need to focus to improve your healing?

We will be launching new programs at our open day that will help you address each aspect.

Think about this - when you stand your weight should be equally balanced between your right and left leg; between your heels and toes.

When you sit; your weight should be equally balanced between your right and left buttocks; between the front and the back of your pelvis.

For most, during the day, we shift weight more towards one side consistently. We favour one side.

To test yourself - balance on one leg and then the other. Which feels more comfortable?

While sitting cross one leg and then the other. Which feels more comfortable?

As long as you favour one side you maintain the imbalances in your body. Consciously correct today!

At our practice we believe that health is made up of 6 practices; a practice is something that you do everyday; something that you commit to; something that is tried and test that makes a physiological difference to you.

The 6 practices are:
Nutritional plan
Hydration
Sleep
Rest
Exercise / movement
Mindset

Which ones do you require assistance with this week?

The ability to consciously choose to make a difference in your daily action is vital.

This means:
1) being conscious and aware of your daily action
2) making the choice despite how difficult it will be
3) repeating it until it sets a new habit

Where do you need to change?

Rules of Aging for Health

When I deal with patients under the age of 24, my job is infinitely easier for two main reasons:
1. They have less psychological blocking of healing
2. Their physiology is naturally progressing and wishing to function optimally

So if you are below the magic age be grateful and consciously use it. However, if you are on the “down-ward slide” then take note of these rules of aging:
1. As you age you have to work harder to achieve the same physiological function.
2. As you age it takes longer to get back to your best level of physiological function.
3. As you age you lose your physiological function quicker especially if you stop consciously focusing on it.

I have two categories of patients in my office:
1. Young enough and willing to make the effort
2. Too old and believe it is not possible

Which one are you?

Our most important relationship is our relationship with gravity. Everything else is related to how effectively we deal with gravity on a daily basis!

Are you shrinking with age?

"I thought it would get better on its own!"

A common thought; the body is self-healing and self-regulating. However if you are subluxated then this interferes with the body's ability to heal and regulate.

"Subluxated?"

A subluxation is a process that occurs neurologically when the vertebrae is not working correctly and sends the wrong messages to the brain maintaining a pattern of dysfunction. This pattern of dysfunction keeps the body in the same state and builds a habit like that.

"So it is not just a muscle spasm?"

So your back pain will not get better on its own. We, together, have to clear the subluxation and the resultant habit. Only then will the protective muscle spasm release.

Make sense?

To do a relaxing abdominal massage; pull down from the solar plexus to the belly button, move to the lower right quadrant then to the upper right, upper left and finally the lower left quadrant!

Push in with the palm of your hand firmly but slowly and shallow at first. Then gentle torque clockwise and release, move to the next point and begin again.

Works well on babies and children.

As you start your week; make a commitment to one aspect of health. Something big or small that you have been putting off for sometime. Commit to doing it everyday; focus at the beginning of the day to ensure you have time and effort set aside.

What will it be for you?

Most people consider metabolism to be about weight management but metabolism is actually about energy management and healing...your weight is the effect of this.
